A Family Legacy Keepsake is the final format you choose to preserve your family’s legacy—whether a book, a short-form documentary, a digital timeline, a video anthology, or another print or digital creation. It’s your family’s story, captured and shared, your way.

That’s what we help families do—preserve the voices, values, and history that got you here, so future generations know where they came from and where they’re headed. Other families feel the urgency because of an upcoming milestone, such as a 100^th anniversary.

We split the process into three clear phases:

• Phase 1: Discovery – Two in-person days + a month for us to create your customized Blueprint for the creation of your Legacy Keepsake.
• Phase 2: Creation – 6 to 12 months, depending on your Keepsake’s format.
• Phase 3: Production – 1 to 3 months, depending on the final product.

We move at your pace, but we keep the momentum going.

We handle every detail of production so you don’t have to. For books, that means overseeing design, layout, and printing—then shipping copies straight to your doorstep.

For digital keepsakes like documentaries or video anthologies, you'll receive a downloadable link along with a hard drive that includes all interviews, B-roll footage, and the final edit. It’s your family story, beautifully packaged and ready to be shared.

We begin with your words—gathered through interviews, photos, letters, newspaper clippings, and any other materials you provide. We supplement your story with careful research to ensure historical and factual accuracy.

For books, you’ll review and approve each chapter before it goes to print. For digital keepsakes, you’ll sign off on the final edits. Bottom line: You always have the final say. That’s how we make sure the story we tell is true—to the facts, to your family, and to your legacy.

We ask for two types of family members to be present:

1. The family member(s) who want the keepsake created (often a founder, matriarch, or elder), and
2. The family member(s) who’ll help drive the project forward—maybe a Gen 2/3 leader or even your head of marketing.

Beyond that, anyone with a meaningful role in preserving your family’s legacy should be present. For example, in one family, Gen 2 joined the in-person interviews because they were taking over the business and had vital context and insight to the business as it’s currently being run.

If gathering in person isn’t possible, we can conduct the sessions by Zoom. But whenever possible, we recommend meeting face-to-face. It’s how we get to know the heart of your family.

We hold our Family Legacy Discovery sessions in a location that feels most comfortable to you. It can be your home, your place of business, or a neutral site. Our goal is to meet you in your space and create an environment where meaningful stories can unfold naturally.

We’re not here to dig up skeletons or stir up drama. We’re here to preserve what matters most. Our questions are thoughtful and respectful, designed to uncover the stories you want to share. Vulnerability can bring depth and connection—but it’s never required. We’ll never push for anything you’re not ready to offer. Instead, we focus on finding the golden nuggets—the moments, values, and memories—that make your family truly unique.

That’s part of the Discovery process. Through conversation, we’ll get to know your goals, your family dynamic, and the stories you want to preserve. From there, we’ll recommend a format that aligns with your values, your vision, and your budget.

We get it! We know that moving forward with a Keepsake takes the right timing and alignment. After the Discovery session, we’ll send you a Blueprint outlining next steps and what’s needed to bring your Keepsake to life. If now’s not the right moment, simply hold onto the Blueprint. When you're ready, we will be too—ready to pick up right where we left off.

Families don’t always see eye to eye on things—that’s the nature of families. Some family members may not want to share parts of the story because they think they’re negative or too personal. That’s normal! The Discovery phase is designed to surface everyone’s thoughts and preferences. If there are stories you’d rather leave out, we honor that. You decide what’s included, and you can always make changes down the road.
