At every mile marker along the book writing, publishing, and promoting journey, a writer need assistance, advocates who open doors and believe in what the author is doing. That requires that a writer begin to nurture and develop authentic relationships sooner rather than later.

Few of us like the idea of networking. But it's fundamental to how books get published and, as the saying goes, go viral. Even, or especially, in an age of social media, writers need to build a network of "friends" who want them to succeed.

The time to start building relationships is not when you need a favor, of course. In this episode, we discuss how reluctant networkers can build authentic relationships before they need them.
