It's hard not to fantasize about writing a best-selling book.
Tucked into the layers of our insecurity is the notion of a break-out book, a New York Times best-seller. It's normal to feel that way. We all wonder if our work just might be a moonshot.
But what will publishing a book really do for you?
In this episode, we discuss at length the expectations and reality of publishing. No doubt, there is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment when for the first time you hold a copy in your hands. And for those writing professional books, there is the credibility and respect that comes from peers.
Publishing will not make you rich, however, and most likely you'll have to keep your day job. For the serious writer, though, a book is a mile marker in the writing life, consequential and yet only one of many in the road trip.
